Buying your qurbani animal: the checklist

1. Teeth first

Look at the front teeth: two permanent teeth (do dant) usually means the animal has reached qurbani age.

2. Health

Bright eyes, a clean nose, firm walk and a good appetite. Check for ticks and for any wound or limp.

3. Weight and price

Buying by weight? Weigh it in front of you. Compare a few animals of the same breed and size.

4. Pay safely

Only when the animal is handed over — never an advance for an animal you haven't seen.
